Amazing place hidden on a corner lot. The food was delicious. The Jamaican Patty (hot beef) is highly recommended, as is the Jerk Chicken and stew. Make sure to ask for Hot Pepper sauce, as their other sauces (while good and flavorful) lack a kick. Great staff, food, and service.

Ordered Delivery - Oxtail and Rib meals. Lemonade and Ginger beer. Peach Cobbler. Oxtails are everything you expect! So tender, flavor is there without burning spice. The cabbage was interesting and had some good seasonings. There are plenty of rice and beans. Ribs were amazing. Juicy, tender, and flavorful. The side of plantains was an unexpected hit. At first, I thought they were overdone/burnt. Nope. Perfect. Save some to add to the peach cobbler. The Lemonade was good. Would take that any day over a soda. TRY THE GINGER BEER!! It is strong. Take sips at first. Very happy with that drink. After all that. I would recommend. I will be back.

I loved the rice and peas and the oxtail was really good it wasn’t quite fall off the bone but that didn’t bother me. I wasn’t a fan of the greens. The beef patty was my favorite it tasted very similar to the ones I had sent from Jamaica. The lady in the front was very nice. I will definitely be back.

I’ve enjoyed West Indies Soul Food for many years: through their food truck and booth at the Minnesota State Fair. This was my first visit to their new brick and mortar location in St. Paul. I was absolutely blown away by the flavors and quality of the food! I ordered the fried jerk chicken special. Spicy and crispy jerk chicken with creamy mac and the best veggies I’ve ever had. I could eat the veggies alone with nothing else. The oxtail was tender thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in the family. Everything was made fresh and with care. WISF truly has some of the best Caribbean food you will find in Minnesota!

I ordered takeout from this restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday, oxtail stew with cabbage (and it comes with rice and beans), coco bread, and a lemonade. It was ready by the time I got to the restaurant, which was very clean and the staff was warm and friendly. The container did not leak in the bag, which was nice. The serving was generous, with a big serving of oxtail and a lot of meat on the bones. Everything was very flavorful and I enjoyed all of it. Would definitely come back. Also! while I didn't bring my pre-K daughter with me, the staff told me they have kid options, particularly on weekends. Mac & cheese, mild sandwiches, not spicy chicken (I think they said the calypso chicken), so I think there are options for kiddos depending on their age and openness to this style of food. There are also special dishes (red snapper and curry goat) on Saturdays if you get there before they sell out.
